The Lord of the Rings: Conquest: Preview

The universe created by Tolkien's grandfather was exploited by so many people and companies that its characteristics have become an integral characteristic of the fantasy genre as a whole. On the motives of her, dear, a culture of role-playing was formed, huge novels were written, large-scale films were shot ... And Friv games - of course, where without them. All genres, all platforms. Some followed the original source to the last comma, some were associated with it only by the races inhabiting Middle-earth, and individual characters.

Friv2Online Studios did not reinvent the wheel and announced something like a simulator of the Fellowship of the Ring. You and I will be given a unique opportunity not only to be in the shoes of our favorite heroes, but also to control the course of hostilities in a very peculiar way. The path that the player has to go is the path of a member of a well-coordinated team, which, using well-thought-out tactics, leads the allies to victory. Battles of completely different scales await us: from local skirmishes to fateful battles (press releases say that one of them will involve about 150 characters at the same time).

Fans of the Tolkien saga will be delighted to know that the developers of The Lord of the Rings: Conquestnot a single significant event in the book has been deprived of their attention. The battle in Helm's Gorge, the siege of Minas Tirith, the capture of Isengard (they didn't even forget about the Ents!) ... The list is far from complete, because the gentlemen from Friv2Online Studios decided to dwell in more detail on some, from their point of view, undeservedly bypassed in the original source, moments. For example, we will take a long excursion around Minas Morgul (if you remember, in the original, the allied troops only "kissed" the Black Gate), and also, under the leadership of Gimli, we will free Moria from the hordes of orcs.

Interestingly, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest offers us different ways to beat the one outlined by Tolkienhistory. Are you used to fighting for the forces of good and helping the unfortunate? Carry the ill-fated ring to Orodruin, defend human fortresses, exterminate Sauron's henchmen, leaving him for dessert. You constantly hide the criminal impulses of your black soul from those around you, or maybe you just languish with curiosity in the style of "what would happen if ..."? Catch up nimble Frodo, plunder the lands of his relatives, take the ill-fated Helm's Gorge and raze Rivendell to the ground, killing Gandalf and the arrogant Elrond. Of course, all of the above applies to a single passage, fans of computer entertainment with a friend on the local grid will be offered other "highlights" in the form of numerous multiplayer modes, the essence of which has not yet been disclosed.

The promised variety of units arouses genuine admiration. In addition to the base of the armies of the opposing sides, consisting of the traditional four classes (warrior, sorcerer, archer and scout), siege engines, all kinds of vehicles (from ordinary horses to winged monsters, on which the Nazguls rode), flying units, Ents and other creatures that have lost their neutrality by the will of fate. Elven archers and Haradrim, Rohans and Urukhai, soldiers of Gondor and Easterlings - in large-scale battles, all these fighters will mix into a bleeding heap and it will be difficult to make out where their own and where the alien is.

Separately, we should talk about the heroes. All more or less significant characters of the book and film trilogy found their embodiment in The Lord of the Rings: Conquest . Gandalf and Sauron, Elrond and Saruman, Frodo and the chief Nazgul - you can take control of any of them and test the unique abilities of each on hapless enemies. For example, Sauron, almost like a movie, with imperceptible movements of a plate gauntlet throws people, elves, and massive dwarfs far beyond the battlefield. But fighting in this way will not work for a long time: the hero constantly loses health, and there is only one way to slow down the rate of leakage: to fiercely kill enemies. As soon as the standard of living drops to zero, the outstanding warrior turns into an ordinary soldier.

Graphically, the Friv game promises to be beyond praise. All the models are perfectly drawn (the number of polygons is clearly not measured in thousands), and many are made on the basis of those that were in the film. High-quality textures, an abundance of shaders, a competent chiaroscuro system - the outer side of the project is made with a plus.

You know, a very, very good project will appear on the market at the end of this year. Fans will like it for the reverent attitude of the developers to the original source, and for everyone else - in the measure of a free and definitely fresh interpretation of the Tolkien trilogy. Add a gorgeous picture to that and you have one of the best Friv games this season. Bravo, Friv2Online!
