save energy and money on utility bills by Don, Cole Hardware customer With the onset of winter and cold weather, coupled with PG&E’s estimated 25%+ rate increases for natural gas, I highly recommend a programmable thermostat, capable of dividing the days into multiple time zones and allowing you to adjust the temperature level accordingly. For example, at night you can turn it way down, program it to have the house warmed when you wake up and the temperature set during the day to an appropriate level depending on the weather and the season. I installed an Ace brand several years ago ... very easy to do as it works off the electricity supplied to a standard thermostat and the setup instructions were clear and easy to follow. I’m sure it has saved its cost 100 times over. If you like to work with your hands, this project will give immediate gratification by solving a problem and saving on both labor and natural gas costs.
