We get calls all the time from people looking for employment opportunities at Cole Hardware. Well, we think we hit on a gold mine idea! We are cultivating an ever-growing cadre of people who work for us "on-call." This program is very similar to a substitute teacher on-call list. If you have special skills in retail hardware sales, customer service, cashiering, stocking, warehouse and/or accounting -- we may be a match made in heaven. Whether you desire to work four hours a week or forty we may have a need for your talents. Handypeople and tradespeople:
Are you a plumber, handyperson, carpenter, electrician, painter or appliance repair person? Our Home Repair Referral Service may be the perfect fit for you. We receive hundreds of calls a week from our customers who are interested in being referred to competent, professional, quality craftspeople and tradespeople to complete all kinds of home repairs. Requirements for participation in our Home Repair Referral Service include expert knowledge within your trade, cleanliness and a friendly disposition. Some types of jobs may require you to carry your own liability and worker's compensation insurance. Please discuss this with the Program manager.
Tradespeople with our Home Repair Referral Service are "traveling ambassadors" of our stores. If you can impress with both your work and your personality, we're interested in talking to you. We have lots of work for you -- we especially need drywall, stucco and lath and plaster repair people.

- Harvey's Brigade: A number of years ago we put out a call for people who were able to work a few early morning hours each week to stock shelves and get the stores ready for the day. This crew was called "Harvey's Brigade," in honor of Rick's father-in-law, who for years stocked the shelves at our Cole Street store. Harvey's Brigade needs recruits again! - Sales Positions: Have strong hardware knowledge and like to smile? We may have a position for you! We are always in search of experienced do-it-yourselfers, retired tradespeople, or veterans from other hardware stores and home centers. If you are a professional salesperson, our Sales Department may be just for you.
Our Commercial Sales staff is always looking for Professional Sales Associates to assist our larger customers. If you like working with the public and have a good working knowledge of hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint and/or tools, you may find a home working on our sales floor.
If you are an independent, self-motivated professional with a cheerful personality, enjoy working with people, have strong hardware product knowledge and/or have had professional outside sales experience we'd like to speak with you. We're looking for qualified individuals to develop and service commercial accounts throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area. Overlapping territories are available working with property managers, hotels, office buildings, businesses of all types, government agencies, airports, the military and more. Commissions are generous, benefits are good and time is flexible!
- Cashier/Customer Service Positions: No hardware experience, but you love working with people? No problem! We may have a position for you, too! In honor of Amy, Maria, Betty and more -- we would love to add to our happy core; working point of sale, helping on the floor, directing traffic, greeting people and more. Familiarity with Windows is desirable. Only energetic, happy people need apply for both full- and part-time positions as part of our Customer Service crew. - Warehouse Positions: If you are detail minded, can lift heavy packages, can work both independently and as part of a team, our warehouse positions may be for you. Our warehouse folks meet the delivery trucks, unload the orders, run out the purchase order, check in the orders and distribute amongst our stores. They also maintain the backstock areas and learn to cut wood,glass,window shades, pipe, duplicate keys as well as assemble items for customers.
