We are proud to present to you our fourth annual Earth Day inventory of our environmental and social bottom lines. Four years ago we had no idea of the impact our commitment to a "triple bottom line" would be. Indeed, we migrated toward what we refer to as a "quadruple bottom line":
I'm proud to tell you that 2009 was a growth year for us in all four categories. (Although barely profitable in 2009, just over a penny from every dollar you spent with us was actual profit that we could reinvest in our business. But "flat" is the new goal for many businesses in this economy, so we did okay.)
Our commitment to our quadruple bottom line finds us constantly challenging ourselves to find new opportunities. We're mindful of our pursuit continuously. A few examples from 2009:
