Cole Hardware Becomes a Legacy Business!
Part of the daily mission at our stores is preserving our founder Dave Karp’s legacy. Dave’s grandchildren, Adrianna and David, our third generation, are tasked with fostering Cole Hardware ’s heritage, while at the same time ushering the business into a modern and evolving City. We are proud to have been awarded Legacy Business designation by the City and County of San Francisco, which recognizes small businesses and nonprofits—not just the buildings that house them—as historic assets. Passed unanimously by the Board of Supervisors in March 2015, the program mandates that legacy businesses must be 30 years or older, have contributed to their neighborhood’s history, and agree to maintain their identity, name, and craft. Cole Hardware is in good company too, joining other iconic City legacy businesses: Green Apple Books, Cafe du Nord, Project Open Hand, Specs’ Twelve Adler Museum Cafe, The Stud Bar, and Zeitgeist, to name just a few. Thank you, San Francisco, for this wonderful honor and for recognizing the contributions that the thousands of small businesses make to give San Francisco its unique character!
